Brian J. Miller Silent Heroes Essay Contest

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce is expanding the Brian J. Miller Silent Heroes Essay Contest. The Silent Heroes essay contest is now a statewide scholarship program sponsored by the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce, Mountain America Credit Union, and the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies.

The scholarship program is open to all sophomores high school students within the State of Utah. The essays recognize outstanding individuals within the community who selflessly serve to improve the lives of those around them. High School sophomores nominate their hero or heroine by writing an essay (1000 words or less) that describes why their nominee should be considered as a Silent Hero or Heroine. The students use their essay to explain how their hero or heroine has personally impacted their lives or how they have improved the community. Students can receive help writing their essay at the Salt Lake Community College Writing Center. The best essays will be awarded a scholarship from the Larry H. Miller Group and the scholarship money will be placed in a Mountain America Credit Union college fund at a high rate of interest until the finalists graduate.
