American Council of the Blind Scholarship

Brent and Diane Richardson Family "Teach for Weber" Scholarship

The "Teach for Weber" Scholarship has been established for graduating Weber School District students who plan to puruse an Education degree at Weber State University, and to encourage students to return to teach in Weber School District. Students who have taken EDUC 1010 (TAP 3) are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Two scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded per year. Each scholarship will be divided into two equal payments of $2,500 for the first year and second year the awarded student attends Weber State University. Brian J. Miller Silent Heroes Essay Contest

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce is expanding the Brian J. Miller Silent Heroes Essay Contest. The Silent Heroes essay contest is now a statewide scholarship program sponsored by the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce, Mountain America Credit Union, and the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies.

The scholarship program is open to all sophomores high school students within the State of Utah. The essays recognize outstanding individuals within the community who selflessly serve to improve the lives of those around them. High School sophomores nominate their hero or heroine by writing an essay (1000 words or less) that describes why their nominee should be considered as a Silent Hero or Heroine. The students use their essay to explain how their hero or heroine has personally impacted their lives or how they have improved the community. Students can receive help writing their essay at the Salt Lake Community College Writing Center. The best essays will be awarded a scholarship from the Larry H. Miller Group and the scholarship money will be placed in a Mountain America Credit Union college fund at a high rate of interest until the finalists graduate. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program

Extraordinary people all have a back story: the steps they have taken, choosing to give back to their community. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program recognizes and supports their journey. BYU – George Hansen Fellowship in Geological Sciences

This award is available to incoming freshmen who enroll as geology, environmental geology, earth and space science education, or engineering geology majors. This fellowship is awarded separately from University-wide scholarships and usually covers a significant portion of the recipient’s tuition costs. Chicano Scholarship Fund

The Chicana/o Scholarship Fund awards a number of scholarships to graduating high school seniors who will be entering their freshman year at the University of Utah. Scholars Helping Collars P.L.A.Y. Scholarship

P.L.A.Y. has always made a point to promote compassion towards animals in both our personal and professional lives. From working directly with local shelters to donating products to animals in need, animal welfare has always been a staple of our business. We know there are plenty of young minds out there that are equally passionate about helping animals in need. Teacher Recruitment Scholarship for Diverse Students - SLCC

Designed to increase the ethnic diversity of teachers in Wasatch Front schools.  Recipients will be encouraged to return to their communities as educational leaders and mentors after completing their teaching degree. The Brent and Diane Richardson Family “Teach for Weber” Scholarship

All interested applicants that have completed the Concurrent Enrollment Education 1010 class are encouraged to apply.  The intent of this scholarship is to provide an opportunity for graduating Weber School District students desirous to pursue an education degree at Weber State University and planning on teaching, a head start in their college experience. Applicants may include underprivileged or less fortunate students with a commitment to further their education. This scholarship encourages students to graduate with a teaching degree and return to teach in Weber School District.

T.H. Bell Teaching Incentive Loan Program

The Teaching Incentive Loan Program (TIL) is state funded and jointly administered by the State Board of Education and the State Board of Regents. The program consists of a waiver (of tuition and fees at Utah public institutions, and $995 per semester at Utah private institutions) to be used for a period not to exceed eight semesters. TIL recipients will be required to complete an educator preparation program and teach in Utah public schools for a term equal to the number of years for which the loan was received. Utah PTA believes that all students have the right to an education at a public school. We realize that for students to further their education it requires funding. Wells Fargo Scholarship Program for People with Disabilities

Applicants must have an identified disability (defined as someone who has or considers themselves to have, a long term or recurring issure that impacts one of more major life activity). Finalists have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and are selected on academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statemeng of goals and aspirations, an outside appraisal and financial need. West Scholarship (Weber State University)

West Scholars are high-achieving students, interested in STEM careers. They show promise to become community leaders in STEM, and have demonstrated financial need. WEST scholars show promise to become community leaders in STEM and have demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to physical sciences (chemistry and physics), earth and environmental science, mathematics, computer science, and engineering students. Westminster College Honors College Civility in Politcs and Public Life Essay Contest

The Honors College at Westminster College is pleased to announce it's third annual essay contest for Utah High School students on the topic of Civility in Politics and Public Life. The first prize is $2,000, an award generously underwritten by WCF Insurance. This is a cash award (rather than a scholarship) and all high school students are eligible, not just those planning to attend Westminster College. William Browning Scholarship in Mining (University of Utah)

These awards are made to further the education or training of students whose parents or guardians have been or are incarcerated. Preference is giving to students with a 3.0 or above, and demonstrate financial need. Women's Army Corps Veterans' Association Scholarship

Scholarship amount: $1,500

Applicants must be a child, grandchild, niece or nephew of an Army Service Woman. Must also be a U.S. Citizen with at least a 3.5 GPA. This scholarship application has a number of requirements, so makesure that you give yourself plenty of time to apply. Women’s Italian-American Civic League

An applicant must be of ITALIAN ancestry and a graduate of a Utah school. The $1,500 scholarship is awarded based on ACT or SAT college entrance exams (40%), exceptional high-school ability (40%), extracurricular (school, church, community service work related) involvement (20%). To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must be admitted as a matriculated (degree student by the applicant’s chosen institute of Higher Education.)
